Five wines under $20 for Halloween
Halloween deserves the best wines, and we already talked about five great wines for your horror movie-themed dinner. Nevertheless, we wouldn’t be us if we were not to give you some more hints and tips on how to get the best wine on xtrawine.
1. Feudi di San Gregorio – Sirica 2018
A ruby red wine, fresh and soft on the palate, spicy. It presents good structure and persistence in the mouth. Mild, astringent tannins. Sirica is the name of a grape of ancient origin, certainly present in Roman times.
It was virtually lost until Feudi di San Gregorio – in partnership with the University of Milan and Naples – decided to invest on the vineyards and reproduced.
The initial DNA analysis revealed characteristics in common with Shiraz, Refosco and Teroldego, Northern-Italian grape varieties.
The different historical development of this grape from Aglianico has given rise to a wine with profoundly different characteristics to other red varieties in Campania.
Perfectly suited to accompany vegetable and meat dishes, such as ragù napoletano and bolognese. Excellent with main courses of meat.

2. Nestore Bosco Montepulciano 1897
A great red wine that has strong roots to the region it represents and the history of the winery.
A Deep ruby red wine that talks of Abruzzo and its unique terroir. Intense aromas with notes of black cherry, plum and violet. Lightly tannic in the opening, but well-balanced.Ideal to drink with red meat, especially pork and great for your autumn days.
Most importantly, this wine has received great awards and the winery itself is one of the few left in the world to do refinement in the bottle and the first to export wine to the US.

3. Antinori Villa Antinori Rossi 2019
We have chosen this wine because it is another great wine that has reached international approval and continues to have international appeal. ts nose is complex and offers notes of wild berries such as bilberries, and plums that blend with hints of toasted hazelnuts, spices and vanilla. Lightly tannic in the opening, but well-balanced. Even this wine has received multiple awards and it pairs perfectly with light meals such as cheese or canapes or main meals such as pork, game but also the great pasta.

4. Brancaia Chianti Classico
This wine is a tribute to our territory and this pure Sangiovese fascinates for its simplicity and ripe notes of cherry. In fact, it offers one of the typical aromas of this variety. It impresses for the brilliance of its colour and, in the mouth, a pleasant freshness meets firm, young tannins. After 12 months in steel and cement tanks, the wine is immediately ready to drink.
Well structured, it shines with icy freshness and vigorous tannins. Valid longevity.Olfactory profile of ripe fruit, with hints of black cherries and plums, fine spices, chervil and violet.
Perfect to drink with pasta, poultry and grilled meat. It is perfect also as an appetiser with canapes of cured meat but also cheese and vegetable sticks.

5. Caldaro Lason Merlot Riserva 2019
A glass of this rich ruby red Merlot from Trentino Alto Adige will take you to Kaltern quicker than a satnav. Impressive absinthe and mint-themed freshness leaves no room for doubt.
Medium-bodied on the palate, with perfectly balanced tannins, a pleasing, drinkable wine, finishes with a touch of ripe, sweet fruit. It offers a bouquet of ripe blackberries, wild cherries and licorice on the nose.
As such, this wine pairs perfectly with game and wild poultry dishes, as well as piquant cheeses.
