Celebrating New Year’s at Home – The Key Tips

This New Year isn’t going to be like anything we’ve experienced before.

There will be no mass gatherings of revellers in all of the traditional spots. You won’t be able to go out to the club or pub with your nearest and dearest. And in many cases, you won’t even be able to invite people into your home so that you can celebrate the end of a horrid 2020 together.

But all of that doesn’t mean that we can’t make New Year’s Eve special.

Yes, it’s going to be very different to what we’re used to. But there are still plenty of ways to have fun, even if you’re stuck at home for the big day. And in this article, we’re going to share some tips for doing just that, starting with…

Tip #1 – Get Plenty of Italian Wine

You knew that we’d start off with this one and for good reason. Alcohol has always been a part of the New Year’s celebrations and there’s nothing quite like enjoying a nice glass of bubbly when the clock strikes midnight and we can finally say goodbye to the awfulness of 2020.

Of course, Prosecco is going to be the choice of many as sparkling wines are always great for a celebration. But if you browse our website, you’ll see a huge selection of amazing wines that you might want to give a try. Thinking about having an elegant dinner party? A nice Italian red wine may be the perfect choice for you! Just looking to have a chilled night in with your family? Perhaps a few glasses of Italian white wine will help to make the night even better.

We offer plenty of wines at affordable prices that you can use to make the celebrations special. But once you have the wine, what else can you do during your at-home New Year’s Eve party?

Tip #2 – Get Calling

Yes, New Year’s Eve is all about parties and enjoying a good night. But underneath all of that lies the one thing that we all, as people, have a primal need for…

Connection.

For us, finding a way to be social during one of the most important social events of the year is of paramount importance. So, our advice is to get on the phone and start calling your nearest and dearest. Even something as small as a text lets somebody you love know that you’re thinking about them and wish they could be there during this big day.

If you want to get really ambitious, you could even set up a conference call on one of the many video callings apps out there and share the New Year with people that you can actually see! Granted, it’s not quite the same as being face-to-face. But you still get to enjoy that all-important connection during a night of the year that’s built for that very thing!

Tip #3 – Remind Yourself About The Great Things in Life

2020 has been a rough year and it’s thrown many a negative thing our way. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to feel positive about. Despite the pandemic doing its best to tear us all apart, so many of us have used this opportunity to build stronger bonds and create a renewed appreciation for the amazing value that our friends bring into our lives.

So, why not take a moment, no matter how brief, to remind yourself of all of the positives that you have in life? We understand that this may be difficult, especially for those who’ve lose someone or something as a result of the events of the year. But that small piece of positive affirmation will serve as a reminder that life will go on and that we can get through this together!

Tip #4 – Dress Up and Decorate

How about something a little more practical?

One of the great joys of celebrating New Year’s is that it gives us an opportunity to dress up and celebrate.

That hasn’t changed!

Granted, you won’t be seen by quite as many people but there’s still plenty of opportunities to make this a night unlike any other of the year. Instead of lazing around in your pjs (though that’s perfectly fine if it’s what you want to do) why not get dressed up to the nines and enjoy looking the best that you can possibly look. Get a few glasses of Italian wine in you and it will even start to feel like a celebration!

On a similar note, consider decorating the house so that it feels a little more like you’re enjoying a traditional New Year’s party. As crazy as it might sound, even something as simple as a couple of “2021” balloons can do a lot to create a celebratory atmosphere.

Tip #5 – Make a Scrap Book

Perhaps you’re not in the party mood. That’s certainly understandable given the massive downer that 2020 has been for so many people.

And it’s okay!

Perhaps you’d prefer to spend the night in quiet contemplation, thinking about what 2020 brought and what 2021 may bring.

To help along with that, why not create a scrap book filled with happy memories from the year? This is a great activity to share with children who feel disappointed that they can’t go out and celebrate like they normally would. Fill the book with pictures of your family and friends and you’ll always have something to cherish from 2020, no matter how tough the year has been.

The Final Word

New Year’s may not go off with the bang that we’re all used to but there are still plenty of ways to mark the occasion and make our entry into 2021 special. We’ve given you just a few of our ideas for some of the things that you could do. But even if your night is as simple as enjoying a glass of Italian wine, that’s okay.

This is your night and you get to ring in the New Year however you want to!

And if you want to get your hands on some Italian wine, you know exactly where to look.
