As we\u2019ve been focusing on other types of wine, Prosecco has only been strengthening its position. While it\u2019s lost a small amount of ground in the UK market, it\u2019s more than made up for that with its stronger position in the US market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, it\u2019s about time that we take a look at another Prosecco<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After all, Christmas isn\u2019t too far away and we\u2019re sure that you\u2019re already thinking about the wines that you want to serve at Christmas dinner and during the parties<\/strong> that you hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, this brings us to the eternal question whenever we decide to take a look at a Prosecco\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which producer should we highlight?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After all, there are dozens who are worthy of our attention. But in this review, we\u2019ve decided to focus on the Astoria winery<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019ve produced a wine of immense quality<\/strong> that we\u2019ll tell you a little more about later. First, let\u2019s find out more about the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Story<\/strong> of Astoria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Astoria\u2019s story seemingly starts in 1987<\/strong>. That is when the company was founded by the brothers Paolo and Giorgio Polegato<\/strong>. However, their history, and that of their family, extends much further back than this fairly recent opening year would suggest. In fact, the Polegato family had been involved with the Italian wine industry for generations<\/strong> before the brothers took the bold step to found their own wine company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Astoria, they had a simple aim \u2013 the produce wines of such outstanding quality that they would be impossible to ignore. And with its location square in the heart of the Conegliano \u2013 Valdobbiadene territory<\/strong>, it was clear that they aimed to make their name through the production of Prosecco. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The brothers now own 40 acres<\/strong> of some of the most beautiful and well-maintained vineyards in all of the Italian wine industry. They are firm believers that the quality of a wine starts with the quality of the land that produces it. As a result, they go to great lengths to tend their land and their vines, thus ensuring that the grapes they produce are injected with the energy and vigour<\/strong> that Astoria\u2019s wines have become so renowned for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the recognition that they\u2019ve received from the Italian wine industry has served as proof that the brothers succeeded in their goal of creating quality wines. A quick visit to their website<\/a> will show that they\u2019ve received award after award for their wines. And if you visit any bar or restaurant in the Veneto region, you\u2019re almost certain to find an Astoria product on the menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the company is best-known for the Proseccos that it produces. And that\u2019s the type of wine that we\u2019re going to take a closer look at in just a moment. However, Astoria has also developed a reputation for developing wonderful barrique wines<\/strong>, which include the Croder, Crevada, and the Colli di Conegliano DOCG. Each wine has its own unique qualities that only got to further prove the level of dedication and professionalism that the Polegato brothers bring to their winemaking endeavours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, we\u2019re seeing the company take further steps to improve on its reputation and enhance its brand<\/strong>, both domestically and overseas. In 2017, they became one of the key sponsors of Giro d’Italia<\/em><\/a>, which is one of the country\u2019s most important cycling tournaments. This sponsorship exposed more people than ever before to the Astoria name<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it\u2019s savvy business moves like this, coupled with the sheer quality of the wines that they produce, that will ensure Astoria remains a name that sticks in the memory for many years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
