Today, most people know Gary Vaynerchuk<\/strong><\/a> as a business growth experts and personal branding master. If you\u2019re an entrepreneur yourself, you\u2019ve probably come across his writing, his videos, and the huge following that he has during your research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s particularly the case in the United States. However, his highly-educated tastebuds have led to him becoming one of the global industry\u2019s most respected and revered critics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The simple fact of the matter is that a seal of approval from Parker, Jr. is enough to put any wine on the map. If he says that it\u2019s the real deal, you can guarantee that the winery attached to the bottle gains almost instant prestige<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His prized possessions are his nose and his palette. And people recognise the value of both to the point where he\u2019s able to insure them to the tune of $1 million!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond this, he\u2019s the founder of The Wine Advocate<\/a><\/em>, which is one of the world\u2019s most influential critical newsletters. He also created a 100-point wine rating score<\/strong> that has become one of the standards in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heading to the UK now, we have a personality who\u2019s name may indicate Italian origins. But he\u2019s real importance comes from the fact that he\u2019s the Head of Wine Buying<\/strong><\/em> at the supermarket chain Waitrose<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may wonder why a supermarket executive would garner such respect in the wine industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s simple. If there\u2019s ever been such a thing as a luxury supermarket<\/strong>, Waitrose is it. It\u2019s where the affluent and the elite go to shop in the UK. And as such, its wine selection<\/a> competes with some of the most prestigious wine vendors in the country. They\u2019re all targeting the same market, which means the entire industry stands up and takes notice when Petrassi<\/strong> makes a decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He\u2019s a Master of Wine<\/a><\/em><\/strong> in his own right. But he\u2019s also built a team of people who have achieved the same designation. This has led to the creation of a team that\u2019s capable of building a thoughtful selection of wines that range from some of the best the Italian wine industry has to offer through to little-known selections from some of the world\u2019s smaller industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fact that he\u2019d not accountable to major shareholders or those with their fingers in the money pot makes his opinions even more valuable. He\u2019d unrestricted in terms of what he can select and he\u2019s doing a fine job of making Waitrose<\/em> one of the UK\u2019s top wine vendors<\/strong>, despite the fact that it\u2019s technically a supermarket chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personality #4 \u2013 Antonio Galloni<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We mentioned The Wine Advocate<\/em> earlier and any regular readers from a few years ago are sure to recognise the name Antonio Galloni<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You could almost consider him a prot\u00e9g\u00e9<\/em> of Robert Parker, Jr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Galloni made his name as one of the tasting staff members at The Wine Advocate<\/em>, where his keen senses soon won him the respect of the international wine community. Over time, he ascended through the ranks of the newsletter to become one of its lead critics<\/strong>. In fact, over 30%<\/strong> of the reviews that the newsletter published in 2012 were written by him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
