Let\u2019s start with something that\u2019s a full on tradition<\/strong> in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every holiday, the Italians serve a gorgeous Easter cake called Colomba Pasquale<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. This gorgeous sweet needs something that offsets it just a little bit without being so powerful that it completely overwhelms the cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As is so often the case, Prosecco is the answer<\/strong>. And in this case, we\u2019re going to go for the Col Vetoraz Prosecco Extra Dry<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And extra dry Prosecco goes extremely well with this Italian cake. And with this example, you have an affordable Prosecco that\u2019s also gained high praise from the xtraWine team. It has fine and persistent bubbles<\/strong>, which make it a pleasure to drink. Borgo Salcetino Chianti Classico 2016<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can\u2019t have Easter without a tasty lamb dish<\/strong>. And of course, that means you\u2019re going to need a great red wine to pair with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many people tend to go for the Spanish tones of a nice Rioja<\/em>, and we can certainly see why. We offer a couple of examples of this wine at xtraWine and wholeheartedly recommend it if you want to try a Spanish wine this Easter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, if you want to stick with Italian wine then it\u2019s an old favourite that should find its way onto your dinner table. That\u2019s right, Chianti Classico<\/strong><\/a> comes through again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is one of the most legendary<\/strong> types of Italian red wine and there are plenty of producers out there who offer amazing examples of it. However, we\u2019re going to recommend the Borgo Salcetino Chianti Classico 2016<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Again, the low price<\/strong> point is a factor here. The wine costs less than \u20ac15, yet it can stand alongside wines that cost three or four times as much with ease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has a rich and full body<\/strong>, with notes of raspberry and cherries coming to the fore. It\u2019s also earned plenty of acclaim for its quality. Gambero Rosso gave it the 3 Bicchieri rating<\/strong><\/a>, which makes it one of the best wines from the 2016 vintage. The team at xtraWine loves it too, which is why we have it a 95\/100 rating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alois Lageder Mimuet Pinot Noir Riserva 2016<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps you\u2019d rather go for a little chicken or turkey<\/strong> instead of a lamb dish this Easter. If that\u2019s the case, you need a red wine that\u2019s a little lighter and more refreshing that a Chianti Classico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re going to absolutely force our hand though, we\u2019ll lean towards the fabulous Alois Lageder Mimuet Pinot Noir Riserva 2016<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2016 vintage is one of our favourite Italian red wines of the moment, which is why our team awarded it a 94\/100 rating<\/strong>. It\u2019s also another wine that\u2019s friendly on the bank balance. At less than \u20ac20, you\u2019re getting a true slice of Pinot Noir greatness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s also a more subtle wine that the Chianti on this list. The fruity notes aren\u2019t as intense and there\u2019s a subtle woodiness to the wine that helps to ground it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus, this is a great option for those who want the most natural wine possible. The Alois Lageder Mimuet Pinot Noir Riserva 2016 is an organic red wine<\/strong>, which means there are no man-made chemicals to be found in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easter is an amazing time of year. Those who follow the religious customs will also relish in the opportunity to spend time with their friends and loved ones during the holiday. And that means eating wonderful food with people that you always want to spend time with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
